[Backdated to the day after the Beasts of Burden flood:]

Seems that when we all jumped back a couple steps evolution-wise some of us were busier'n others. [He's looking at you, cold-blooded reptiles and formerly stoned felines.] Going into why or how ain't important, but I picked up a couple things this flood that I don't got a use for.

[The picture moves to sweep over a pile of random objects sitting on the floor of his cabin: it's a mess of mismatched jewelry, coins, silverware, keys, buttons, electronic parts, and half-eaten foodstuffs, various strings and ribbons tangled up in the collection.]

Anyone wants this huòsè* back, all you gotta do is ask for it. Anything that's left I'm dumping in a common room.

[He hesitates] Yeah you didn't. I'd like them back then. I'll come get them now.

[Here is Clint, smiling at the door dressed in SHIELD fatigues. This should be a great big clue for you Mal as to who he is and what he does. Hands in his pockets, he smiles broadly when the door opens.]

Malcom Reynolds?

[And here is Mal, opening the trapdoor for his cabin and blinking at the soldier standing over him. Now this is an interesting coincidence.]

Yeah, qǐng jìn.* [He stands aside to let Clint down the ladder and in to check out the cache of stolen goods.] ...SHIELD, huh? So I'm guessing you're one of those Avengers.

*Come in.

[Clint just raises an eyebrow. Okay. In the floor. Cool.]

Mandarin? [And there is a suspicious squint there, a small one, and then a shrug.] I'm afraid I'm behind the times on the Avengers initiative. Do you climb down?

[Haven't you ever seen a mid-25th century transport ship's captain's cabin before, Clint? No? Well okay then, now you have.]

Yeah? [In a "what about it?" tone. He turns back to the pile and picks out the arrowheads, separating them from the rest.] Can't say I'm surprised. None of 'em talk straight about it. There's a ladder, but the drop ain't much.

[Clint jumps down and lands cat quick on the floor.] Just curious.
...Like a cabin on a carrier. [He's looking to the left and right]

[when he takes the arrowheads he twists them, peers at something inside, and smiles. Then he shrugs.] That was one heck of a flood.

[He follows Clint's glances around the cabin and nods to confirm the obvious.] Yeah, that's kinda what it is.

[Now there's a neat trick, they come apart. How did he not realize that when he was picking over them with little paws?] You ain't kidding. Did you luck out and stay the way you are or go all fuzzy too?
