I am not familiar with the "layman" language. However, I can tell you that the Green Lanterns are a force run by the Guardians of Oa to aid and protect. We fight for what is right because it is the right thing to do.

Uh-huh. Got all of that up till the Oa part, but, just out of curiosity? What's fighting for what's right, exactly? Phrases like that mean a hell of a lot of things to different people.

Plenty of folk fight for what they think is right, against other people fighting for what they say's right. So when you say you fight for what's right, sounds a mite like you expect me to side with you. Which might be reasonable enough, depending how you decide what's proper. Do you got a list of rights and wrongs? Does this Green Lantern corps have an actual cause, or are they just pickin' fights where they see fit?

I am unaware of any specific list. But the Lanterns exist to maintain peace, so I would say that no, they do not "pick fights" unless first threatened.
